I was reading up on some of my favorite RL blogs and found this article here, that inspired me for todays post. I’m sharing it because I think it makes a good read and it actually does fit the pics
If life has challenged you and you feel like you keep getting swept under the waves, perhaps it is time to figure out how to ride the wave! So many things can feel like crashing waves coming down on us. Finances, health, relationships, children, jobs and more can have a harrowing effect on us. Some situations are far worse than others, but ultimately it is up to us as to how we handle the waves crashing in on us.
Sometimes the waves keep coming one after another, without a moment to catch our breath. Life isn’t always fair when it comes to timing and challenges being one after the other, or worse all at the same time. In those cases, it’s important to take (a lot) of deep breaths and try to deal with one wave at a time.
The first step in riding the waves of life, is to acknowledge when you feel like you are going under from too much. Too much of anything can include a lot of good things, good changes and exciting things. Sometimes getting married, having a baby, a move to your dream home, all good things, can be very overwhelming. Whatever is overwhelming needs to be recognized and accepted as what it is, for you. Ask yourself if you are feeling stress, pressure, fear, anxiety, sadness etc. and really accept that your feelings are normal and acceptable.
Once you embrace your feelings surrounding your circumstances, find ways that work for you to feel you are riding the wave, rather than being swept under. I have practiced many things to deal with overwhelming life stuff and some things work better than others. The key is to see what works best for you.
Often our own ability to manage our thoughts, from spiraling out of control and being consumed with fear and anxiety, is our best tool when the waves feel like they are crashing down on us. Sometimes are perception can be adjusted so that we don’t see things as being so bad or impossible. We do not have control over certain things or people, but we can control how we handle life.
Please feel free to share your tips to not letting the waves of life crashing in pull you under. Someone else may really benefit from your input!
“Beach Rules: Soak up the sun. Ride the waves. Breathe the salty air. Feel the breeze. Build sand castles. Rest, relax, reflect. Collect seashells. Bare-feet required.”
